A volunteer-run wildlife rescue and rehabilitation group based in Townsville, North Queensland.
WRAPT exists to give sick, injured, and orphaned native wildlife the best possible chance of a return to the wild. Our volunteer carers respond to rescue calls across the Townsville region, provide round-the-clock care during rehabilitation, and release animals back to their natural habitat once they're ready β all funded and run by the community, for the community's wildlife.
Wildlife-vehicle collisions, dog and cat attacks, entanglement, and other human-wildlife conflict are some of the leading reasons animals end up needing WRAPT's care in the first place β and often, the same stretch of road or the same suburb comes up again and again.
This app turns individual reports from the public into a shared picture: a heatmap and dataset WRAPT can hand to local councils to guide things like signage, fencing, wildlife crossings, and speed limits in known hotspots β turning one-off sightings into evidence that can actually change a dangerous stretch of road.
Every rescue costs money β food, vet care, enclosures, transport. If this app has been useful to you, consider chipping in or getting more directly involved.
